A test that meets all of Reddit's guidance at your target runs at $100 a day: $700 for one week, $1,400 for two, and $1,400 to $2,100 to cover the full learning phase.
Against organic comments: $1,000 lasts 10 days at $100 a day in ads. At CommunityMentions, $1,000 is one month. The median client brand got 69 verified placements across five channels in the 30 days to September 28, 2026, about $14.49 each at today's price. Your target of $25 a result is above that figure. A placement is a comment in a thread and a result is whatever you bid on, so weigh the two by what each one is worth to you.

How to read the result
Test spend is your daily budget times the number of days. Reddit charges only when someone takes the action you bid on, and a campaign spend cap keeps the total inside your budget.
Results at your target is the test spend divided by your target cost per result. It is what the budget buys if the campaign hits your target. It is not a forecast: Reddit publishes no average cost per click, and results inside the learning phase Reddit describes are not yet settled.
The four checks compare your plan with the guidance in Reddit's own cost article. A plan below one of them can still run; Reddit says the system needs enough budget and time to learn before the numbers mean much.
Worked example: $25 a result, $100 a day, 14 days
Fourteen days at $100 is $1,400. If the campaign hits $25 a result, that buys 56 results. Reddit's 3x rule, applied to the daily budget, asks for $75 a day, so $100 clears it, and 14 days reaches the start of the 2 to 3 week learning phase. To cover the full three weeks at $100 a day costs $2,100. The same $1,000 at CommunityMentions is one month of organic comments; the median client brand got 69 verified placements in a month.
How the calculator works
It uses three rules from Reddit's learning-hub article Reddit Advertising Costs and How to Maximize Results (published February 10, 2026, read October 31, 2026). First, set a budget of at least 3 times your target cost per acquisition. The article does not say daily or lifetime, so the calculator applies it to the daily budget, the stricter reading. Second, consider $100 or more a day for at least one week and up to two when testing for lower-funnel results. Third, allow a 2 to 3 week learning phase before judging performance. The same article explains that you pick a daily or lifetime budget, bid with lowest cost or a cost cap, and can set a campaign spend cap.
The organic figure comes from the CommunityMentions delivery database. In the 30 days to September 28, 2026, the median of 65 client brands got 69 verified placements across Reddit, YouTube, Medium, LinkedIn and X. Every Reddit comment is checked on its thread the day it is posted. CommunityMentions sells organic comments and does not run Reddit ads, so weigh the comparison with that in mind.

What the calculator can't tell you
It cannot predict your real cost per click or per lead: that depends on your targeting, creative, landing page and the auction on the day, and Reddit publishes no average. It also cannot say what an organic comment is worth to you. Use it to size a test that meets Reddit's guidance, then judge the test on its own numbers.
Frequently asked questions
How much do Reddit ads cost?
Reddit Ads is an auction, so there is no fixed price: you set a daily or lifetime budget and pay when someone takes the action you bid on, such as a click. Reddit's own guidance for a test is $100 or more a day for one to two weeks, which is $700 to $1,400, with a budget of at least 3 times your target cost per result.
What is the minimum budget for Reddit ads?
Reddit's cost article does not state a hard minimum. It suggests $100+ a day for at least one week and up to two when you test for lower-funnel results. It also suggests a budget of at least 3 times your target cost per acquisition, so the system gathers enough data to learn.
Why does the calculator ask for my cost per result instead of an average CPC?
Reddit's cost article publishes no average cost per click or CPM. Your target cost per result is the number Reddit's own 3x rule is built on, so the calculator uses it and shows what your budget buys if the campaign hits it.
How long should a Reddit ads test run?
Reddit recommends a 2 to 3 week learning phase after a campaign goes live before you judge performance, and suggests a test of one to two weeks at $100+ a day. A test shorter than 14 days ends before even the short end of that learning phase.
Are Reddit ads worth it compared with organic comments?
They buy different things. Ads buy clicks from the audience you target while the budget runs. Organic comments sit in the threads buyers and AI answers read later. In the 30 days to September 28, 2026, the median CommunityMentions client brand (65 brands) got 69 verified placements across Reddit, YouTube, Medium, LinkedIn and X, about $14.49 each at today's $1,000 a month.
